Simplivity offers data architecture solutions based on hyperconverged infrastructure. It is characterized by a software-based design; basic x86 hardware components that combine compute, storage, and networking with hypervisor technology into a single “building block” device that scales by adding additional units or nodes; a high degree of automation; and the ability to manage aggregated resources across nodes as a single federated system.
This data architecture eliminates read and write redundancy by reducing the data footprint on primary/production storage and secondary/backup, thanks to deduplication. In addition, it integrates data protection, ending the need for complex and expensive hardware and software equipment; achieves VM-centralization by tracking data belonging to each virtual machine and enables VM-mobility; and offers unified management through multi-node and multi-site federations.
